Proceedings of the Engineered Science

Journal Scope

Proceedings of the Engineered Science is an international, peer-reviewed, gold open-access journal publishing major advances at the interface of science and engineering. It welcomes theoretical, computational, experimental, and data-driven research that deepens fundamental understanding, establishes predictive principles, and generates meaningful impact in engineering, technology, industry, the environment, or society. Innovation often emerges at disciplinary boundaries. The journal therefore promotes interdisciplinary research that integrates concepts and methods from physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, materials science, computation, and engineering. Contributions must represent a substantial advance by revealing important mechanisms, establishing transferable principles, developing transformative methods or technologies, or significantly influencing future research and engineering practice. Fundamental research is welcome when it resolves an important question, establishes lasting scientific principles, or provides a credible basis for future engineering or technological development. Research must have clear scientific, engineering, industrial, environmental, or societal relevance. Technical sophistication alone is insufficient without significance, influence, or potential impact.

The journal covers a broad range of engineering sciences, including advanced materials, composites, interfaces, and multifunctional systems; cement and concrete materials; structural and infrastructure systems; civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, environmental, biological, and biomedical engineering; energy generation, storage, conversion, and management; sustainable manufacturing, and resource recovery; artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and autonomous systems; multiscale computational modelling and engineering mathematics; molecular biology, microbiology, microbial genetics, microbe, host–microbe interactions, bioengineering, and medical systems; nanoscience and multiscale phenomena; mechanics, fracture, durability, reliability, and risk; sensors, electronics, photonics, digital manufacturing, and emerging technologies. Priority is given to genuinely interdisciplinary research that delivers meaningful scientific breakthroughs, rather than merely combining methods from different fields. Such work should address questions of major importance, resolve unexplained phenomena, establish transferable principles, develop rigorously validated predictive models, introduce transformative concepts or technologies, and demonstrate clear potential to influence research, industry, engineering practice, medicine, policy, or society. Routine optimization, descriptive studies, minor extensions of established knowledge, and applications of advanced techniques without consequential outcomes are generally outside the journal’s scope.

Beyond its general scope, Proceedings of the Engineered Science has a distinctive interest in outstanding research presented through formal oral presentations at prestigious international scientific conferences that typically have been held at least three times. Such work may benefit from prior expert selection, peer review where applicable, global exposure, and direct in-person discussion and scrutiny, thereby strengthening its relevance, quality, and impact. Conference presentation is not required and represents only one feature of the journal. The journal does not republish conference papers. Conference-derived submissions must be original, complete journal articles that substantially extend beyond any abstract, presentation, summary, or proceedings paper. Related prior publications must be disclosed and cited. Conference review and discussion complement, but do not replace, the journal’s independent editorial assessment and peer review.

AI Tools
The use of AI-generated content, including data, text, and figures, is prohibited. AI-assisted tools may be used to support manuscript preparation. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, scientific integrity, attribution, and copyright compliance of all submitted content. Any substantive use of AI-assisted tools must be transparently disclosed. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or assume responsibility for the submitted work. Article types

Proceedings of Engineered Science accepts the manuscripts in the following formats:

  1. Full Paper
  2. Communication/Letters
  3. Review Articles (Authoritative and Comprehensive)
  4. Comments
  5. Personal Account

Proceedings of the Engineered Science is a single-blind peer-reviewed journal. For details about the review process, please click here. For post publication, comments and corrections could be made. For details, please click here

Important Information for Authors

Proceedings of the Engineered Science is fully Gold Premium Open Access (OA) journal. All published articles for Open Access (OA) will be charged. For more details, please visit here. At present, the Article Processing Fee is covered by Engineered Science Society.

The authors are encouraged to use Journal's template for the manuscript preparation and submission. This will be more convenient to the Editors and the Reviewers to evaluate the manuscript. To download the templates and formats, please visit here

Special Issues

The Proceedings of Engineered Science does not have regular special issues. However, the experts, especially the authors from the journal, can organize papers with the same topic to form a virtual special issue. It normally contains 10 to 15 papers, which are published in the last three years. This special issue will be displayed in the special issue area (link). All interested experts should prepare a proposal on the specific topic and selected papers. After receiving the proposal for the virtual special issue, Editor-in-Chief and selected Associate and Executive Editors will evaluate the proposal. A decision is expected within three weeks from the date of submission.

Processing Time

Depending on the manuscript type and number of submissions, the average manuscript turnaround time (the average time from submission to initial decision) will be around 10 days and the submission to acceptance ranges from 6-7 weeks.

After acceptance, the citable just-accepted manuscript with a DOI will be online in 48 hours and another one week to get the final corrected article online after getting the authors’ final proof. The print version will be available 2-3 weeks later after the online volume is issued.

There is no embargo period for the accepted manuscripts, and authors may place their articles in a repository of their choice immediately upon publication.
