Abstract

Reducing agents are an essential and fundamental requirement in most chemical reactions. In the current scenario, superalkali is getting more attention due to its reducing capability. This study shows that the phenothiazine derivatives can potentially act as an organic superalkali. Different types of electronic effects like inductive, resonance, and conjugation effects of phenothiazine ligands play a vital role regarding the lower values of ionization energy. Frontier molecular orbital gives more insights into electron-donating behaviors.
