Special issue on  “Advances in Magnetic, Ferroelectric and Multiferroic Materials and their Applications”

Call for Papers

Advances in materials systems often lead to technological breakthroughs in the applied sciences and engineering. Magnetic, ferroelectrics, and multiferroics have recently been developed as perception materials for information technology and data storage applications, as well as ideal model platforms for studying polarization-mediated phenomena on surfaces and interfaces. Recently, strong magneto-elastic and elasto-electric coupling has been achieved through optimization of material properties and proper interface design of transducer structures. These developments have led to magnetoelectric structures that provide high sensitivity over a varying range of frequency and DC bias fields enabling the possibility of practical applications. The main focus of the forthcoming special issue is to present a comprehensive overview to our readers by assembling state-of-the-art research articles and topical reviews on advanced magnetic materials, ferroelectric and multiferroic materials on the nanoscale, with the coverage ranging from synthesis, growth, and patterning, to nanofabrication and device fabrication with special emphasis on establishing and conveying Structure-composition-property relationships. The focus of this issue is to collect important contributions toward the development of ferroelectric/piezoelectric and multiferroic materials for energy harvesting applications under this common platform. Therefore, we invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the frontier efforts to study the structural, magnetic, electrical and magnetoelectric properties of these unique materials useful for practical applications such as magnetic field sensor and energy harvester.
